A sump stores both equipment
and the excess water needed to run that equipment. It constitutes
the primary filtration center and emergency-safeguard system of
an aquarium.
One side of the two chambered sump, the "clean" side,
holds extra water for the aquarium's operation. In the event of
power loss, the aquarium will drain to the top of it's overflow
box, and the excess will be safely stored in this chamber. The
other chamber, or "dry" side, is separated by a short
wall. Water spills into the dry side and collects before being
pumped back to the aquarium.
Our Berlin Sumps come complete with an adjustable prefilter
and optional skimmer. |
