What is a Wet/Dry Filter?

Wet Dry filters (aka Drip Filters or Bio Towers) are aerobic filters. Water from the aquarium is dripped over Bio Balls, which are optimally designed to provide surface area and oxygen for biotics. Microbes filter the passing water, which is collected and reintroduced to the aquarium. Wet Dry filtration is best if used in conjunction with a prefilter or protein skimmer to keep large particulates out of the system.
